چکیده

If 5 V(r) actually describes the effects of a new force, and is not just a parametrization of some other systematic effects, then its presence would be expected to manifest itself elsewhere as well. Recently, we have Here VN(r) is the usual Newtonian potential energy for two masses m ~ 2 separated by a distance r, and 6 is the Newtonian constant of gravitation for r The geophysical data can then be accounted for quantitatively if o. and A. have the values undertaken an exhaustive search for the presence of such a force in other systems. Our analysis, to be presented elsewhere, 3 leads to the conclusion that if such a force existed it would show up at present sensitivity levels in only three additional places: (i) the K -K system at high laboratory energies, where in fact anomalous effects have previously been reported; (ii) a comparison of satellite and terrestrial determinationss of the local gravitational acceleration g; and (iii) the original Eotvos experiment which compared the acceleration of various materials to the Earth. We note that the subsequent repetitions of the Eotvos experiment by Roll, Krotkov, and Dicke and by Braginskii and Panov compared the gravitational accelerations of a pair of test materials to the Sun, and hence would not have been sensitive to the intermediaterange force described by Eqs. (1) and (2). Motivated by our general analysis, we returned to the Eotvos experiment and asked whether there is evidence in their data of the presence of 5 V(r) in Eq. (I). Although the Eotvos experiment has been universally interpreted as having given null results, we find in fact that this is not the case. Furthermore, we will demonstrate explicitly that the published data of Eotvos, Pekar and

Lattice Boltzmann Simulation of Deformation and Breakup of a Droplet under Gravity Force Using Interparticle Potential Model

Abstract In this paper interparticle potential model of the lattice Boltzmann method (LBM) is used to simulate deformation and breakup of a falling droplet under gravity force. First this model is applied to ensure that the surface tension effect is properly implemented in this model. Two tests have been considered. First, it has been checked an initial square drop in a 2D domain can freely def...

Comment on "Search for a substance-dependent force with a new differential accelerometer"

A well-balanced hollow copper sphere freely floating and almost totally submerged in water is observed to move toward the nearby edge of a cliff'. This observation is consistent with a substance-dependent, medium-range force postulated in a recent reanalysis of the Eotvos experiment. Further measurements with difTerent elements and geometries will be required to establish definitely the existen...

A comparative study of quantitative mapping methods for bias correction of ERA5 reanalysis precipitation data

This study evaluates the ability of different quantitative mapping (QM) methods as a bias correction technique for ERA5 reanalysis precipitation data. Climate type and geographical location can affect the performance of the bias correction method due to differences in precipitation characteristics. For this purpose, ERA5 reanalysis precipitation data for the years 1989-2019 for 10 selected syno...

Lorentz noninvariance and the Eötvös experiments.

We explore the consequences of Lorentz noninvariance (LNI) for the Eotvos experiments in several models. It is shown that a violation of Lorentz invariance leads to an anomalous difference in the gravitational acceleration of two test masses which depends on their composition. Using the present experimental limits from the Eotvos experiments, we then derive a limit on the magnitude of a possibl...

Multiple dimensions in syntactic reanalysis 1 RUNNING TITLE: MULTIPLE DIMENSIONS IN SYNTACTIC REANALYSIS Multi-dimensional contributions to garden path strength: Dissociating phrase structure from case marking

Psycholinguistic investigations of reanalysis phenomena have typically focused on revisions of phrase structure. Here, we identify a further subcomponent of syntactic reanalysis, namely the revision of case marking. This aspect of reanalysis was isolated by examining German subject-object ambiguities that require a revision towards a dative-initial order. Since dativeinitial orders are potentia...
